17 Aug 1886.  The whole school very backward since the (summer) holidays.  Rose Cavill a 3rd Std girl was kept in this morning for idleness during arithmetic lesson.  Her mother came up &  used very improper language, calling me every thing that was bad, she refused to listen to an explanation
1 Sep 1886.  T Bush, A Kirby (Std 3) & MA Waters are so very deficient in intellect that it will be advisable to place their names on the exception schedule at the end of the year
9 Sep 1886.  Commenced school at 1pm, school dismissed at 3.15 owing to Regatta on Marshes which causes a number of children to stay away
15 Oct 1886.  As the weather was very wet, children were dismissed at 12 for the day

8 April 1892.  Last November 4 garments were taken from one of the cupboards.  2 first class girls have now voluntarily confessed that they took them & sold them.  They have expressed their sorrow & have begged to be forgiven.  The parents, who were not aware of the affair, have also pleaded hard that the girls may be forgiven.  They have refunded the money obtained for the garments & I have today paid same into the Bank to Needlework Account & consented not to report same to the Board

27 Feb 1894.  During the last few weeks a number of the bigger girls have left, some removing from town or district, other going to learn a trade.  This leaves me with a very small Std 5 & 6
19 March 1894.  Miss White received notice on Saturday that she had been successful at the Certificate Exam obtaining a place in the 2nd division (2nd year)
20 March 1894.  Miss Davies received notice that she has obtained a place in the 3rd division (2nd years papers).  Received letter saying that Miss Taggart has been appointed as ex pupil teacher in this school
21 March 1894.  Miss Derrett received notice that she has obtained a place in 3rd division (1st years papers)
3 April 1894.  Miss Taggart commenced duties as Assistant today
28 May 1894.  Miss Wayland will be absent for at least a month.  I have asked her to provide a replacement which she has done in the person of Mrs Smith, formerly a pupil teacher in this school

13 Aug 1894.  The upper Std girls are leaving school as soon as they are 13 years old.  5 have left during the holidays which leaves 1 in Std 6 & 13 in Std 5.  One of these 5 has left to go to a private school, another because  her mother objected to the Attendance Officer calling.  The other 3 are over 13 years old

6 Dec 1894.  Miss White received a letter informing her that she had been transferred to Stow Hill Girls School.  I find that no teacher has been appointed in Miss White’s place.  This will leave me without a teacher for Std 2 of 105 girls.  I have informed the Clerk Miss White cannot leave until a replacement is found.
