Star of Gwent. 20th July, 1871 Ann Davies and Jane Fibbs were charged at the Police Court on Saturday with unlawfully taking water, the property of the Pontypool Water Company - Mr. Hare represented the Company - Fibbs handed a receipt which was paid after this offence - Fined ten shillings each.
A violent thunder storm passed over Newport on Wednesday evening. One
of the chimneys of the Caledonian Hotel was struck by the electric fluid,
but happily no person was injured. [ Back ] |
