Sadly Haydn died on the 5th of December 2012 after a short illness.

Born
and raised in Newport, Monmouthshire, England, but for the last 30 years
resident in Newport, Wales. No clash of loyalties - he did try to get
his passport endorsed "Anglo-Welsh" but had to settle for
"British".
Educated at Church Road Elementary School and St Julians High School.
Left school in 1944 to join the war-time Royal Navy, spending 2½
years on a destroyer in the Far East.
After demobilisation entered the Civil Service and continued to serve
the Queen for a further 40 years.
On retirement became interested in local history and on discovering
that Newport had never had its history properly recorded, researched
the subject for 5 years and finally published "The History of
the Borough of Newport" in paperback. .
Lately engaged in writing a sequel to his history of the town: "The
Millennium Years" and also an account of the founding of Australia:
"The First Five Years".
