BRIDGE STREET, SHOWING QUEEN'S HOTEL & VICTORIA HALL, NEWPORT, MON
Source:
"ROCK'S ROYAL ALBUM: NEWPORT MON"
Date unknown... probably late 1800s
The series of pictures in this small fold out album seem to fall between Victorian and 20th Century Newport, both in terms of content and production method. No sign of motorized vehicles on the streets and they appear to be photographs modified to look like prints.
They probably date from before 1896 when the Victoria Hall was gutted by fire. It was later re-opened as the Lyceum. They are no earlier than 1886 (see the Westgate view).
