We were sent these photos by Peter Capnos who explained:
"When I started school in Malpas, probably around 1943, I was equipped with a disc worn on the wrist with my identity details - probably in case of war casualty or becoming lost. This as you will see was an inexpensive disc simply etched with my name and address with my national identity number on the back rather like a pet identity disc! I seem to remember a number of other children being similarly equipped and we used to pretend we had wristwatches - an unheard of possession for children in those days!"
