School Board of the Newport School District - awarded to I. Tew for punctuality and attendance every time the school was open, 1902. Probably Bronze. Special reverse side for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902.
Our guess is that these light bronze medals were awarded for the third year a pupil achieved 100% attendance.
This medal was awarded to Ivor Tew. We have not been able to find out much about him other than what we found on the 1901 Census. Then he was ten years old and living at 39 Bolt street with his parents Henry Tew, an engine driver, and Susan; also his sister Annie. We have found the family, without Ivor, in the 1911 Census and his parents in the 1939 Register. But no other records at all for Ivor Tew.
Ivor Tew, born 1890 / 1891 in Abergavenny is all we have discovered. If you can help us with more information about Ivor please contact us.
Does anyone have copies of the Bolt Street School registers?
