The 1861 Census has George Gammon, 49, victualler, living at the Tredegar Arms, 4 Church Street. George was from Ilfracombe, Devon. In 1871 he was innkeeper of the Royal Exchange Inn, Commercial Road. He died in 1872. (In 1851 he was a grocer, living at Commercial Wharf.) The Tredegar Arms in Church Street closed in 1994.
