Two CDVs from G Villiers' studio, 8 Commercial Street, Newport. Probably from mid to late 1860s.
There were 6 Lords Tredegar. Pictured above is the first Lord Tredegar, Charles Morgan Robinson Morgan (b.1792 - d.1875). His wife was Rosamond Mundy, they married in 1827. On the death of his father, also named Charles, in 1846, he became the third Baronet Tredegar. This gave him the title Sir Charles Morgan. He was made a peer (baron) in 1859 and was then called Lord Tredegar or just Tredegar.
We will be adding a new section to this website shortly about the Lords Tredegar and their relationship with Newport.
