Carved Capital St Woolos Cathedral

The stone capital from the Norman/Romanesque arch, is of native workmanship, based on classical sculpture, and shows elements of both a Corinthian capital (with the overlapping leaves) and an Ionic capital with the two scrolls. The face with the arms outstretched represents a person in prayer.
