Steer, Edward, is a justice of the peace and deputy-lieutenant for the county, and was High Sheriff of Monmouthshire for 1909-10, is the second son of the late Charles Steer, of Stoke Newington, who married Martha, elder daughter of the late John Sutton Nettlefold,of Highgate, Middlesex. Mr. Steer married a daughter of the late Thomas Pemberton, of Heathfield Hall, Handsworth, Staffordshire, and in 1886 he purchased the Woodlands Estate at Malpas from Mr. L. A. Homfray, and went to reside there. He was a director of Messrs. Nettlefolds, Ltd., and joined the Board of Messrs. Guest, Keen and Nettlefolds, Ltd., upon the amalgamation of the businesses now comprising that firm. Chairman of the Newport Harbour Commissioners 1914; chairman of the Monmouthshire Territorial Force Association. He is actively interested in several important undertakings in Newport and Monmouthshire. Residence: Woodlands, Malpas, Newport. Tel. 3608.
