The 1911 Census records a Mr William Charles Dade as a lodger living in Caldicot and working on the GWR as an engine cleaner.

Pete Strong has contacted us saying: "Pictures 1278, 1560 and 1561 could be the National Shell Factory at Maesglas. They made 60 pounder shells. The screw caps for them were made at C.H. Bailey's Tyne Engineering Works at the docks."
