The Provision Market, between Dock Street and High Street, is a handsome building in Renaissance style with central tower, and was purchased from the Duke of Beaufort and rebuilt in 1888, at a cost, including the market rights, of over £42,000. The main frontage is in Dock Street, and is arranged for shops. The great central hall is 192 feet in length and 145 feet wide, with a gallery running round. Accommodation is provided for over 150 stalls. The principal market days are Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
