In 1937 Lovells, Newport, was the largest confectionary factory in Wales and the West of England. It was equipped with machinery and plant for making chocolates and confectionary of all kinds and providing employment for around 700.
In order to guarantee prompt and efficient delivery to depots and customers, Lovells had their own fleet of motor lorries, manufactured at their own motor works (all but the main chassis). They also ran their own printing works.
