Viscount Tredegar

Godfrey Charles Morgan was born in 1831. He was a captain in the 17th Lancers during the Crimean War. Was in the Light Brigade and rode into the "Valley of Death". Created Viscount 1905, freeman of Cardiff and Newport 1909. Died 1913 and is buried at Basseleg Parish Church. He did not marry and the Tredegar estate passed to his nephew Courtenay Morgan.
