Tram Number 53, Corporation Road, Newport

Tram 53 at its Corporation Road terminus in 1934 with driver WJ Thomas and conductor W Shellard. It was built 1921 and did its last service in 1937. Tram 51 has the claim to fame that it was Newport's last tram, but in fact tram No 53 was actually the last car to arrive at the depot, having travelled from the Corporation Road terminus, on the night of Sunday 5th September 1937.
