Val Mills kindly sent us the image. She told us:
"My father is on the second row, fifth from the left in the sailor suit. Although he looks small for his age, he would have been 10. He was John George Willis Butcher, born 13 January 1899 to Ralph Butcher and Esther (Catherine Esther Hooper) of 17 Duckpool Road, Maindee, the oldest of three boys. Dad was known as George, William Ralph, born 1903 was known as Tim (from Tiny Tim), and Robert Charles, b 1908, was Bert. The family were much involved in scouting."
Johns' 1911 directory gives the following information about the school:
Erected 1866, enlarged 1897 for 520 boys, 412 girls and 353 infants. Boys' master Mr. L. Thomas, girls' mistress Miss A. A. Barber, infants' mistress Miss S. M. Williams.
The boys' master in 1907 was Mr. P. G. Gale. My guess is this is the bearded man left of picture.
