From 'The Alexandra Docks Newport', 1914:
"This quay is also provided with a brick warehouse 200 feet long by 70 feet wide. The floor, which is of platform type, has an area of over 12,000 square feet, and a siding runs through the back of the warehouse, enabling wagons to be loaded or unloaded under cover. The platform floor projects from the front of the warehouse, so that goods can be taken either, direct from the wagons or vessels alongside the quay and deposited directly on to the platform and removed thence into the warehouse on trolleys.
"The openings in front of the warehouse consist of 14 consecutive steel lath roller shutters, so that goods can be taken into or out of the warehouse at any point. The space behind the quay is well laid out with sidings, and ample room is available for stacking purposes."
