Marshes Road School (Mixed School and Infants) opened January 19th, 1880. It separated into Boys', Girls' and Infants' Schools November 23rd, 1885. Crindau School opened January 6th, 1902.
William Harrington was headmaster 1880 - 1922, with Mrs W. Harrington headmistress of the Infants 1880 - 1918. Lewis Thomas was headmaster from 1922 onwards and Miss B. Rees headmistress of the Infants from 1918. Girls' School Headmistresses were: Miss E. B. Hawkes (later Mrs. Machell) 1885 - 1911; Miss A. Monroe 1911 - 1925; Miss K. Taggart 1926 - 1928 and Miss N. B. Bacon 1929 onwards.
