Park Square where the statue of Sir Charles Morgan was sited after first spending ten years in the High Street.
An inscription on the base reads: This memorial was erected A.D. 1850 by the friends of the late Sir Charles Morgan of Tredegar, baronet, in testimony of their attachment to the man whose benevolence they admired and whose loss they deplore.
The statue was moved Bridge Street in 1992 with a time capsule under the plinth.
Postcard from the private collection of Patrick White.
