The Weekend Standby Loco

Grubby Ebbw Junction Hall class loco No, 5939 Tangley Hall, simmers quietly in the sidings alongside Newport station, acting as the weekend standby locomotive, kept there in case one of the new fangled diesels broke down (they often did). In the background you can see that construction has started on the Civic Centre clock tower, c. 1963.
