According to Johns's 1928 Newport Directory, Egbert T. Sandford, HMC, lived in the property. We do not know who the young lady in the photo is.

The building of the Graig Park Estate greatly boosted the population of Malpas.

Graig Park Gospel Hall (Graig Park Road) was built in the 1930s.

On the opposite side of Malpas Road, a little further out of Newport the following development had taken place:

Westfield Avenue - 32 houses
Westfield Road - 31 houses

Westfield Crescent (in front of the school) was developed a few years later
as was Westfield Drive.
