Lewis, Herbert W. was born in Newport 6th June, 1875. Honorary battalion secretary and battalion commandant of the Boys' Brigade, and captain of the 1st Newport (Mon.) Company. Is also a member of the executive of the South Wales and Monmouthshire Boys' Brigade Council. Was for many years a member of the management committee of the Y.M.C.A. aud the Newport Band of Hope Union. A Wesleyan Methodist local preacher, a class leader and a trustee. Vice-president of the Juvenile Welfare Council, past president of the Newport and District Boot Trades Association. Has recently been elected vice-president of the Wales and Monmouthshire National Boot Trades Federation. Is a member of the South Wales and Monmouthshire Technical Advisory Committee for the Training of Disabled Sailors and Soldiers. Chairman of the Waste Paper Collection Committee during the war. Has attended as delegate on several occasions with deputations to the Government on matters of trade for the South Wales area. Has also one of the most up-to-date boot making and repairing wholesale and retail factories in the district. He is also the maker of a specially designsd clog for iron and agricultural workers.
