Henry Philip Davies

Davies, Henry Philip was born in Newport in 1867, and is proud to be called a Pill boy. He was educated at the old Wesleyan School under H. Taylor, and also at the British School under E. J. Smith. He is the second son of the late Lewis Davies, builder, of this town. Practically ever since leaving school he has been associated in some way or other with the Building Material business, and in February 1897 was appointed managing director of the Newport Builders' Supply Limited, which position he still holds. Is a Past President of the South Wales and Mon. Builders' Merchants and Builders' Ironmongers' Alliance, and is one of their representatives on the National Federation of Builders' Merchants' Associations. Mr. Davies is a thorough "Cymro," and is so attached to the language of the Principality that he always prefers, whenever possible, to attend the Welsh services at the Ebenezer Chapel of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodists.
