Douglas Joyce

Joyce, Douglas was born at Blandford, Dorset, 1877. Educated at the Stow hill British School and Newport Collegiate. Joined his father, Mr. Charles Joyce, in business in 1893. He was taken into partnership in 1902, and is today managing director of Joyce & Sons (Newport) Ltd., stationers, booksellers, printers, drapers and milliners, whose business is so prominent a feature in the High street. He married Ethel, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Bushell, of Reading, in 1902. He is a Wesleyan Methodist (now circuit steward), and has been a lay preacher for the past 14 years.
