Haslam, Lewis J.P., County of Lancaster, first elected M.P. Monmouth District Borough in the Liberal interest in 1906, and has represented Newport since the last election in 1919, when he secured a majority of 3,846 votes. He is a son of John Haslam, Gilnow House, Bolton, Lancashire, and Jane, daughter of J. Crook, White Bank, Bolton. Married in 1893 to Helena Norma, daughter of Henry Dixon, of Wallington, Oxfordshire. Was educated at the University College School, and University College, London. He is a director of cotton spinning and manufacturing concerns, and is chairman of the Parliamentary Commercial Committee and joint hon. secretary and treasurer of the Inter-Parliamentary Commercial Committees.
