View NE, towards everywhere north, east, and south; ex-GWR South Wales main line. The 08:15 from Newcastle-on-Tyne came via York, Sheffield, Derby, Birmingham, and Gloucester, and was due at Cardiff at 16:20. The 4-6-0 (No. 5980 'Dingley Hall', built 9/38, withdrawn 9/62) will have taken over from an LMR locomotive at Gloucester (Central).
