Charles Edward Compton was born (almost certainly in Newport) in 1863. Lived (probably after he was married) in a house called St. Hilary, Llanthewy Road. Died 1937.
He was an architect. Architect to the Ebbw Vale Industrial Provident Society. Local Hon Secretary for Monmouthshire, Society of Architects, London. Offices at 35 Commercial Street. In John Newman's "Buildings of Wales, Gwent" the only building attributed to him is the Baptist Church, Llanthewy Road, dated 1912.
Newport Art Gallery have 3 watercolours by Compton of local scenes (you'll find them on this website: Christchurch Lane Fourteen Locks Malpas Canal ).
