BALLROOM, WESTGATE HOTEL, NEWPORT, MON

Having in our last week’s issue published an exterior view of this hotel, we now give an interior of the ballroom, exhibiting the style in which the whole of the interior is finished.
The size of the ballroom is 62ft. by 28ft., with a height between floor an ceiling of 18ft. In direct communication with the ballroom is a serving room, with approach to kitchen by lift, and to master the difficulty of the peculiar shape of the site upon which the hotel stands, an oval vestibule is arranged for receiving tickets, &c. This vestibule is connected with a long open corridor for promenading at times of balls. At the end of ballroom, facing the main entrance, is a raised orchestra, approached by private stairs from the long corridor.
The ballroom will be used in connection with the hotel for balls, public Dinners, Masonic meetings, &c. The first public dinner is arranged to take place on the 6th May.
The architect is Mr. EA Lansdowne, MSA, of Newport, Mon.
